WASTE DIVERTED: 99%

Upon notification of the project by Brent Cross Centre Management, a site visit was arranged with the shopfitting contractor. During this visit, it was identified that in addition to general mixed shopfitting waste, there would also be various other waste streams that could be segregated to improve recovery rates including mixed metals and plasterboard. AWSNationwide advised that these waste streams should be segregated into separate containers for recycling and also gave general advice regarding how to separate heavier waste streams such as inert material from lighter bulkier items that should be placed into different sized containers. The combination of the segregation of waste streams and the correct sized containers added value by not only maximising recovery rates, but also lead to a reduction in the shopfitting contractor’s overall waste management costs.

Having identified the waste streams arising, AWSNationwide searched its database to identify the nearest suitably qualified waste contractor. The selected contractor was located 2.3 miles from site, leading to a rapid and responsive service that also minimised the carbon impact of the projects waste activities.

During the course of the contract, regular site visits were made to review the waste arising and to ensure that the previously identified waste streams were being segregated effectively. AWSNationwide also used these visits to update and review the waste reports with the MacDonald Joinery site team to ensure the previously agreed waste strategy was being adhered to.

The client, Victoria’s Secret, required weekly cost reports from Macdonald Joinery, which AWSNationwide were able to supply supported by accompanying waste transfer notes and weighbridge tickets. Upon project completion, fully detailed waste and financial reports were supplied within 7 days.

The data from this contract was supplied as part of the standard reporting to the Brent Cross Centre Management team.

“AWSNationwide provided a first class service from their initial advice about how to segregate waste streams through to speedy and comprehensive end of contract waste and cost reports. All skip exchanges were managed smoothly and efficiently, and the level of customer service was excellent. All this was achieved at a very competitive price.”
